When we speak about supernatural phenomenon, the first thing that comes to one mind is ghost. Ghost is something that people fear of without even seeing it for once. Some believe that there's ghost and some don't. So many horror stories about ghost in the world. One said to be a true movie is published called the Haunted Changi. I haven't really see the movie myself but alot of my friends went there before and didn't discover a thing, why during the movie shooting itself that something happen?
I believe that people tends to scare themselves because of their subconsciouness keeps telling them that they will see something today and creates an illusion. When we are afraid we tend to be paranoid even by just a simple drip of water can scare the hell out of us. Not all people likes horror genre. Some people love the trills and therefore people making it find it fun to look at player's reaction.
When we die, some say that we will reincarnate, some say that we will go to heaven/hell and some say that we will just be some restless spirits. I'm sure everyone heard that if one is unable to reach their goal/revengeful they will not be able to reincarnate. Something struck me once when i read an article about a women getting hypnotise to see her past life. Saying that she was a boy back then. It feels so weird and why would people want to see their past live when they have the present? Does it really matter about how your past life is like? The only thing I believe is that every human being has karma, when we do bad things in the past life it will bring forward to the next and the next.
cultures affects the way people think about supernatural. In Asian Traditional Practice, i heard about not to turn back when someone calls you from behind, because a human has three lights, 2 at the shoulder and one at the forehead so if one is to turn the head first the lights(yang qi) will be lower and therefore the ghost will be able to possesed you. The black cat jumping over the coffin and the dead comes alive, i haven't seen it before but my grandmother told me about it. The dead comes to life and she was afraid so she throw something at the dead and the dead just hug it and falls back. I don't know how true this is and i wouldn't want to it it either.
Western tradition we know about demons posessing humans like the movie Angels and Demons, constantine, and the latest movie Devil. There's evil vampires and zombies, movies like Resident Evil that is showcasing now and quarantine. We use to think that zombies are just some stupid idiots that move around according to sound but guess what, zombies evolve and turn to something that even by shooting the head several times, it just won't die off easily. What's worse is that now they mutate into something that can swim and dig holes underground. Just how the hell do we fight them back? Well i would ask myself if a zombie comes running at me what would i do and i guess my answer will be to kill it. It's either i die or it die.
If we ever seen the show Supernatural we do know that they did ritual as well. be it to revive someone from dead/transfer one soul to another body Or just to see the preety devil standing infront of you. Devil takes form of one desire so that they can make the deal successfully. Not the mention there's voodoo dolls as well. While for us chinese we know last time about paper dolls where you write the name of that person on the doll and say things like hit your hit so that you will get headaches. something like that and continuously hitting the head of the paper doll. Straw dolls is use as we write the birthday of that person and use a needle to poke them and actual person will feel pain from the place you poke the needles in. Now voodoo dolls becomes so popular with cute design in them that people will just buy it just because it's cute. I have one of the limited version ones. haha..
Most people often avoid watching horror movies/play horror games/read horror books because they don't want to feel scared. Once i remember watching a horror movie and when i went to sleep i dreamt of this girl wearing white staring at me infront of my face and i got so scared that i jumped out of bed and still feel scared hiding in my blanky. It not just a dream anymore when we open our eyes but it feels so real. The only reason why people wanted to watch horror is because it is thrilling for them.
