Space Opera

Space Opera is a sub genre of science Fiction that is closely related to romantic and sometimes dramatic adventures that is set entirely in outer space. It's like a story told in space with the protagonist and perhaps aliens?

Space Opera originate during 1900 and the earlier works usually on travelling between planets. Time passes and soon battles were introduced as well like star wars.

There's a lot of medias using space opera as genre. I think it is because of this medias that we always think about aliens when we talk about outer space. Movies like Lost in Space, Dante 01, star Trek, etc. Is it this media that influence our mind?

Some thing i find interesting about when we first saw movies like aliens invasion or disctrict 9 aliens has alot of forms. And it seems they aliens are always using high technology weapons and are always smarter than us humans. I guess that explains why they invade earth because they are able to and we are not able to do so.

There is always only 1 choice when we know alien is invading that is to fight them. Even though they say they come in peace but who can actually believe it? We don't know them well but they know us so well because they speak our language. It's like war between good and evil. And when we speak of fighting we will begin to search for our own allies to form a team to defeat the ultimate bad guys. Some way or another there will bound to be love. And that is how space opera is form. What happens if an alien falls inlove with a human?

I am really curious about the time difference in space and on earth. It's like we are stepping on earth which was once a space, but here we have gravity and it just feels amazing.


When we are told to create a space ship for our school assignments i am really stuck because firstly even though i've seen a spaceship on TV it's no way that we know which is which and well i don't really know if we can have toilet bowls on spaceship or maybe a canteen? So well when i was creating my spaceship i imagine it myself. I put farms, rooms, entertainment room. Hoping that perhaps humans will be able to fly out to space for holiday?


Well it doesn't hurt to have a little imagination about outer space even for games. Some games involve outer space like Super Mario galaxy. Perhaps if i were to create a game on outer space i would create a game like the protagonist needs to leap through space to save his alien girlfriend? Or maybe invade an alien planet? Well it's always aliens invading earth and not the other way round so i think it would be quite new if we can have that as a game/movie? =D
