Understanding Creative Process

For now here's the different type of creative techniques we try in class:

1. Idea Box – it a morphological analysis method that helps the structuring and investigating the relationships contained in problems. Eg. List a variations of parameter and combined different variations of parameters to create new ideas

Step 1- List major elements involed in the issue or problem eg. Shapes, material, animals etc.
Step 2 - Each Variable is listed under different element eg. Shapes we have triangle, circle, square, oval etc.
Step 3 - Combining variables together to come up with ideas
Step 4 – Analyse ideas and choose one to expand the idea

2. Deep Doodling – To generate ideas, brainstorm with individual doing deep doodling in a group and exchange ideas and opinions as well as connections between ideas

3. Keep track of good ideas by writing it down and keep it somewhere so when we ran out of ideas and relook at the ideas we originally has, we might be able to come up with something.

4. Scamper and Word Chain that helps us think out of the box to create something and combined them together

5. Creative Cards that helps us along the way when we are doing group brainstorming

6. Questions that helps us proceed when we are stuck at some point

7. Wearing different thinking hats

HTI2 Game and My Hero Journey

I feel that HTI 2 game is like a room full of portals. These portals meant different emotions and also different aspects/things we can learn from. The white background meant Ideas where ideas is flowing in the air where one can't see with naked eye. It also meant the inifinite ideas one can think of. Players have to take a step infront to enter the portals of wonders.

This is my hero journey where i have entered the belly of confusion monster. This is infact the most dangerous map because i might have lost to the monster and be lost forever. The biggest enemy of confusion is oneself therefore i have to had the courage and will to go through the maze and walk out of confusion.

My defination of Ideas

Ideas are something that we can either brainstorm or when we did a combination of something into something new. Whether be it a good idea or a bad ideas these ideas can then be improved with everyother little thigns. one good example is that when we are having group discussion we always throw alot of ideas onto a piece of paper whether be it a crazy idea, lame idea or a stupid ideas we may eventually use these little ideas to get some points out of it to create something new. When we have ideas we create something new therefore brainstorming is a very important process.

We can’t judge ideas into bad or good because every ideas is important too, our lecturers used to say that the lamer the ideas the better it is because no one will be able to use it. Basically when we go to work ideas is like something that if people like your idea they will buy it, if it’s something that they dislike they will disapprove however I feel that no matter how unrealistic the idea is we should all acknowledge it and maybe one day we will be able to use it.

Ideas comes the mind and when we think of something, it may not be relevant in what we are doing but we can twist the idea to something that is more related to the things we are discussing. We may even think of more ideas from the first idea we got. One example I can relate is probably creating music, music is something that everyone has hear before and more and more different types of music appear but all the notes are familiar a different songs using the same rhythm and same notes can create a different feel. Ideas can be reused and there can never get sick of new ideas. Final Ideas are usually strong because it gives us a huge impression on what we are doing. I should say that an idea exists in our head and we make the idea exist in reality, that is how we got Avatar and other fairy tale storys. We get ideas by looking at other people's ideas as well. There's a few ways we can tell people our ideas, we can do brainstorm discussion, we can draw out our ideas, we can sing, write, and even dance. Even a picture in the museum gives you ideas. Ideas can be quite real because when we watch 3d movies the movie itself is made up of ideas and when we are watching the whole movie it feels so real because of the 3d effects.

Ideas can be dangerous when we are talking about terrorist ideas, when we make a violent games from ideas and give access to younger kids they might become violent and mentally unstable therefore Ideas can also be dangerous. Sometimes when ideas are point out we find that there's a lot of loop hole in the idea we have, therefore we need another ideas to cover up. When different ideas clash, we must therefore look at the advantage/disadvantage and the outcome. When we are having discussions we tend to have plenty of ideas and so an evaluation on the ideas we have to create a story for our game. Using the story then we can set our characters, environment and game play of the game we are creating.

Keywords are quite useful when we are making ideas, when we use keywords it would be better for us to reorganize how the story goes and also create it differently. When we talk about creating cute games the word cute has many different ways of portraying the problem here is whether the game has already been created by people or are we creating something totally new to people. If it’s new will it be boring or interesting? Would it catch people’s attention? Will people play for long hours? Will people like our game? All these issues again arise but we never know if we don’t try. Research on the games we are going to make also helps a lot because we now know that what games is hot for the season and we can also follow the flow. I went for a psychology class in school and humans are actually categorise into different categories however no matter what we were categorise into we can never be just that category alone, there’s bound to have 2-3 categories which means only one thing and that is humans are different. We may be different and the ideas we give are different too and that is what makes ideas. That is what makes new games, movies, advertisement. If everyone were to think the same, wouldn’t life be boring and uninteresting?
